WHAT IS MAHÓN CHEESE?
Mahón cheese is one of Menorca’s most emblematic products, with a long tradition shaped by the island’s unique climate and dairy heritage. At Dalrit, this legacy is combined with careful pasteurisation, ensuring consistency while preserving the distinctive character of the cheese.
Made using pasteurised milk, the curds are moulded and shaped before entering a controlled maturation process. The cheeses are aged for between two and five months in drying rooms, where temperature and humidity are carefully managed to achieve the ideal texture and flavour.
Our pasteurised semi-cured Mahón from Dalrit is firm and easy to cut, with a smooth, cream-coloured interior. It offers developed dairy aromas with notes of butter, complemented by subtle hints of freshly cut grass and roasted dried fruits.
On the palate, it is balanced and approachable, with a gentle acidity and a creamy, slightly elastic texture. The finish reveals delicate savoury and nutty nuances, alongside the light salinity characteristic of Mahón cheese.
Serve with quince paste, or enjoy melted—this cheese works beautifully in warm dishes, from toasted sandwiches to burgers.
