WINE TASTING
La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 890 2011 is one of Rioja’s most iconic and age-worthy wines—crafted only in exceptional vintages and representing the pinnacle of traditional Rioja winemaking.
Produced predominantly from Tempranillo, with small additions of Graciano and Mazuelo, the fruit is sourced from old vineyards in Rioja Alta. The 2011 vintage delivered wines of remarkable structure, balance and longevity, ideal for extended ageing.
This Gran Reserva undergoes an extraordinary maturation process, spending many years in American oak barrels (made in-house by the estate’s own coopers) followed by extended bottle ageing before release. The result is a wine of immense complexity and refinement.
In the glass, expect intense aromas of ripe black fruit, dried cherry, cigar box, leather, spice and balsamic notes, layered with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is silky, elegant and deeply structured, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and an exceptionally long, persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRING.
A true collector’s Rioja, perfect for pairing with roast lamb, game, aged beef and mature cheeses, or for enjoying on its own as a contemplative, special-occasion wine.
